Jason Wagner is the Wine Director of Union Square Cafe. He brings more than ten years of experience in the hospitality industry, where he has held nearly every front-of-the-house position. While working in restaurants, Jason developed a passion for wine and service, which inspired him to secure certifications from both the American Sommelier Association and the Court of Master Sommeliers.


Prior to joining Union Square Hospitality Group, Jason was the Partner, General Manager and Beverage Director of Fung Tu in Manhattan’s Lower East Side. Under Jason’s leadership, the restaurant received Two Stars from The New York Times and became a downtown wine destination. Before Fung Tu, Jason worked as the Wine Director at both Henri and The Gage in Chicago, where he simultaneously managed high-volume and fine-dining wine programs.


Before Chicago, Jason worked as the Wine Director at the two Michelin-starred L’Atelier de Jöel Robuchon in the Four Seasons Hotel New York, where he managed a list of over 750 labels that span classic regions and vintages. When he is not at work, Jason enjoys playing music and spending time with his wife and son.
